Coach End-of-Season Speech (6-7 minutes)

"Good evening, everyone. Thank you for being here.

To our booster club, thank you for the concessions, the fundraisers, and for never saying no when we needed something. And to the parents: thank you for sharing your athletes with us. Senior Captain Speech (3-4 minutes)

"I'm not great at this, so bear with me.

Delivery Tips

• Practice out loud — Read it three times before the event. You'll sound natural, not robotic.
• Bring notes on index cards — Bullet points, not a script. The banquet is warm, not a lecture.
• Make eye contact — Look at the team, not the podium. Scan the room.
• Pause after laughs — If you get a laugh, let it breathe before continuing.
• Keep it under 8 minutes — Attention spans are short. Leave them wanting more.
• Don't apologize — Never start with "I'm not good at public speaking." Own the room.

What to Avoid

• Inside jokes only the team gets — Families and guests won't follow and will feel left out
